Is how we’re coping normal? Is my normal your normal? What does ‘normal’ even mean anymore? And will we ever find our way back to a common understanding of it?Item New acquisition: Witchcraft : a history in thirteen trials(Special Collections & Archives, University of Waterloo Libraries, 2024-10-25) Robichaud, DanielleWith fall’s spooky timeline in full swing, Special Collections & Archives (SCA) is here for you when it comes to seasonally appropriate reads and research support. Since that time, the department has actively collected and maintained items related to women, gender, and sexuality. Drawing on those holdings, the exhibit Gender Studies Isn’t New features archival records that reflect the persistence of gender-based study, research, and activities over time. New and longer-term acquisitions are featured as a way of disrupting the notion that the questioning and examination of gender in our daily lives is a new or unique phenomenon.Item Salute to the Canadian Solider!(Special Collections & Archives, University of Waterloo Libraries, 2021-11-08) Robichaud, DanielleConsisting of a wealth of photographs, textual items and audiovisual material, the records in the Schneider family collection were originally maintained by the Schneider family at the J.M. The Islandora project is a tool of transformation. At UPEI, it has facilitated learning, enabled and expanded partnerships, funding opportunities, research collaborations, and community engagement, while producing a legacy of platform versions, customized websites, and infrastructure that is unsustainable given existing resources. At UW, it represents a new effort to plan, implement, and scale a presentation and preservation service that leverages the experiences and best practices established by the Islandora community. This presentation will examine the opportunities and challenges that arise when working with Islandora. Focus will be placed on lessons learned, project sustainability and establishing a way forward by contrasting the experiences of first-time and advanced implementers.
